Pour son nouvel album, Diana Krall a choisi de déléguer une partie des responsabilités au célèbre producteur David Foster. Sur ce disque, l'artiste livre de magnifiques interprétations de morceaux écrits depuis les années soixante, mettant au passage en évidence l'étendue de son talent de chanteuse. Parmi ces chansons figurent des classiques tels que "California dreamin" de The Mamas and the Papas, "Desperado" d'Eagles ou encore "Wallflower" et "Sorry seems to be the hardest word", écrites respectivement par Bob Dylan et Elton John, deux des héros de Krall. L'album comporte des chansons plus récentes comme "Don't dream it's over" de Crowded House ainsi qu'une nouvelle composition de Paul McCartney, "If I take you home tonight". L'album a été enregistré à Los Angeles et à New York.
